ParetoLogic Spam Controls provides the following features and benefits:

Accuracy:

Most anti-spam applications rely on keywords. ParetoLogic Spam Controls uses advanced spam pattern classification to identify confirmed spam based on known patterns. While other anti-spam applications falsely label messages as spam because they contain one or more key words, Spam Controls eliminates cases of false positives.

Reliable spam detection:

ParetoLogic Spam Controls utilizes Commtouch technology which includes unique Recurrent Pattern Detection (RPD). As a result you get one of the most reliable real-time spam detection tools. Detection of unwanted items includes computer threats such as phishing, viruses, and other types of malware. Unlike traditional and outdated spam filters, Spam Controls is equipped to detect even the most sophisticated and evasive threats, including those composed in text, html, and graphics. Spam Controls draws from a wide user base to continually enhance the detection of known spam items.

The illegal act of sending an email or an instant message in an attempt to acquire personal information for the purpose of identity theft. Typically the email will link the recipient to a web site where they are asked to enter information such as name, passwords, and credit card data. Although the web site will look authentic, it is fraudulent and is created only for the purpose of stealing the private information. Most recent phishing attempts are targeted at customers of online payment systems and banks.

A generic term for software that performs in such a way as to provide damage to your computer system - "malicious software." While similar to viruses, malware is typically not self-replicating and does not spread from one computer to another.

ParetoLogic Spam Controls is easy to install and integrates well with your email client application (Windows Mail, Outlook, or Outlook Express). There are no complicated rules to setup and manage. There are dialogs that come up to assist you when you first get started that you can choose to not be displayed again. See Options for more information.

Scan for spam:

You can perform a scan of your entire Inbox folder or for any folder within the Inbox. Scan details are displayed during the scan and a summary is provided afterwards.

Support for POP3 email accounts:

ParetoLogic Spam Controls supports POP3 and Exchange account configurations. You can configure your email application to receive webmail that supports POP3, such as GMail or Yahoo! Mail, and have Spam Controls filter out the unwanted spam. See Support for POP3 Email Accounts for more information.

Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3), is a protocol that is used to retrieve email from a server. Email programs use POP3 to retrieve and send email. POP3 can be used with or without Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), a protocol involved in the sending of email.

Automatic functionality:

You can add senders of emails to your Block List so that the emails they send are automatically placed in the PL Spam Controls folder.

Import your contacts:

You can easily import all your contacts to the Allow List to ensure that the emails they send will automatically be placed in your Inbox folder.

Purge spam messages:

You can permanently delete all spam messages when you purge your PL Spam Controls folder. You can also schedule a purge to run automatically.
