General
The General page is the first page that is displayed when you select a user profile. This page displays options for login and web sensitivity settings for the selected user.
Login Settings
In the Login Settings section of the General page you can change the login credentials, change the secret answer (administrator only), and you can configure other related options.
To edit the login settings for a user:
- Open the Control Panel window and select a user profile.
- Click the Change Login Settings button.
- Edit the profile login credentials.
- Click OK and then click OK again in the confirmation dialog.
You will need to fill in the login settings in the text boxes provided including the following:

A set of alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers only).

A set of alphanumeric characters that the user will need to login. The password must be 4 to 16 characters in length.

The same password to verify it was correctly entered.

For administrator accounts you can also choose to edit the Secret Answer used to identify you when you need to be reminded of your password. See Reset Your Password for more information.
Note: The option to change the secret answer is only enabled for the administrator profile and not applicable to other profiles.
To edit the administrator Secret Answer information:
- Open the Control Panel and and click the Profiles link.
- Select the Administrator profile.
- Click the Change Secret Answer button.
- Select a question from the drop down box and enter an answer in the box provided.
- Click Apply.
There are also other settings related to the profile and the actions the program takes when an item is blocked.

Enable automatic logout
|
A numeric value selected using a spin arrows. The time value begins countdown when the system is idle.
Note: by default this is set to five minutes. After five minutes of system activity you are automatically logged out. This is a security measure intended to prevent others from accessing the program using the administrator privileges.

Play sound when a URL or keyword is blocked
|
A brief sound will play when either a URL or a keyword is blocked. This is determined by the Website List and Keyword List settings.

Display the Blocking Options dialog when a URL or keyword is blocked
|
The Blocking Options dialog will be displayed when either a URL or a keyword is blocked. This is determined by the Website List and Keyword List settings.

Web Sensitivity
You can view and edit the level of sensitivity for a user profile. The first two options will require you to choose the specific settings.
To change the sensitivity level do the following:
- Choose one of the following options:
- Sensitivity level
- Customized access level
- Completely suspend all Internet and network activity for this user profile (Note: this is not enabled for the administrator profile)
- Configure the necessary settings as desired.
- Click Apply.
Sensitivity Level
When you choose the Sensitivity level option you are selecting one of three preset levels. You will need to move the slider to one of three settings.

A few websites are blocked.

Note: By choosing one of the these preset levels you are accepting the values that PGsurfer has set up. These settings will be overwritten if you choose to have customized filters set up as described below.
Customized Access Level
You can choose the Customized Access Level option and adjust the settings.
To set the customized access level do the following:
- Select the Customized access level option. A link appears.
- Click the modify link.
- Select one or more website or keyword filters.
- Click Save.
Note: You can modify these filters at any time by returning to the Filters page.
