Login and Logout

After you have successfully installed ParetoLogic PGsurfer you will receive prompts to select a user profile and to login each time you start your computer. Anyone using this computer must login in order to use the Internet and online services.

Note: For regular user profiles, the profile credentials (name and password) are provided by the administrator. We suggest discussing this with the user beforehand so that they can choose a password they can easily remember.

The login dialog can be accessed from the desktop icon or the ParetoLogic PGsurfer icon in the system tray.

To login, do the following:

  1. Open the login dialog by doing one of the following:
    • Double-click the PGsurfer desktop icon.
    • Right-click the PGsurfer icon in the system tray and select Login.
  2. In the User Login window, select your user profile.
  3. Enter the password in the space provided.
  4. Click Login.

If you cannot remember your password, see Reset Your Password. After you login the Control Panel will be displayed. You can choose to edit the settings or you can close the window.

Automatic Logout

You can logout from PGsurfer at any time. This is described in the next section below. The program is also set to automatically log you off when there is five minutes of inactivity. The reason for this is that you might leave the computer unattended and forget to log off. When this happens someone could go on to the computer, access the program using your administrator privileges, and change the permissions or settings.

The default automatic log out time for all users is five minutes. If you want to modify this setting, see General Profile Settings.

Logout

A user can logout at any time and suspend the Internet Timer. If you leave the computer unattended, your Internet access time continues to count down.

Note: The administrator can modify the option to automatically log a user out if the computer is left unattended for a period of time. See General Profile Settings for more information.

To log out do the following:

Right-click the PGsurfer system tray icon and select Logout.
