Glossary Terms and Definitions

The following is a list of some glossary terms that are used in this help file or that you may come across in relation to ParetoLogic DriverCure.

Driver

A driver is a program that manages computer devices including your printer, keyboard, mouse, monitor, disk drive, graphics card, and more.. Drivers enable computer programs to interact with the hardware devices by acting as a translator between the device and other software programs. Each device must have a driver associated with it. In some situations it is necessary to have the most recent driver installed in order to achieve desired operability.

Many drivers that tend to be generic do not support the advanced features of the associated hardware. Frequently manufacturers offer driver updates to fix issues, improve performance, enhance stability issues on your computer, or to provide new features.

System Restore

System Restore is a feature offered by Windows Vista and Windows XP operating systems. In the event of a system failure or other major problem with your computer, system restore can be used to return your computer to an earlier working state. When setting a restore point the system takes a complete snapshot of the registry and certain system files and saves this information. You can then revert to this saved state without losing personal data. Microsoft states that this safeguard should only be used after trying less comprehensive methods of troubleshooting. Refer to the Microsoft site for more information and instruction.
