Quick Scan
With a Quick Scan, ParetoLogic Data Recovery searches your computer for any files that have been deleted and can be recovered. The scan works by searching through your computer's file table.
The main page is displayed when starting the program. If you want to scan for all files on your system that have been removed and are available for recovery you can begin here. If you would like to do a scan for specific text or a specific drive location (for example, a removable storage device), we recommend the Advanced Scan.
Note: There is no guarantee that a file will be recovered in whole or in part. Much of this depends on how much free space is on the hard disk drive. If the computer system requires space to save new files it could write to areas of the disk that were previously used by pre-existing data.
To begin the Quick Scan:
- In the Main window, click the Scan button.
- Click the Start Scan button.
You can also cancel a scan that is in progress.
To cancel the scan, do the following:
Click the Cancel button.
After cancelling the scan you can do one of the following:
- Click the Cancel button to choose to not recover any items and to return to the first screen.
- Click another option in the left panel of the Main window such as Advanced or Email. You can return to the Scan page and the results of your previous scan are still displayed. These remain resident until you cancel, close the window, or start a new scan.
- You can recover any items that were detected.
When the scan is complete, there is a list of results displayed. You can expand the list to see the individual items that have been detected, you can change how the items are sorted and you can get a preview of the items.
Note: When you delete a file it is moved to the Recycle Bin. When Data Recovery recovers items from the Recycle Bin, they are moved to the recover location. You can no longer locate and recover these items from the Recycle Bin.
