Email Scan
With the Email Scan you can recover emails that have been previously removed.
Note: With ParetoLogic Data Recovery you can perform an Email Scan to examine if particular emails are available to recover. However, to recover the detected emails you will need to upgrade to the Pro version as directed by the program when you attempt a recovery.
There are three options for you to choose from:
- Scan the default email client
- Scan a specific email profile
- Select a specific data file to scan
When you select an option and run a scan, results are displayed and you can recover one or more email files in the same manner as described in the Preview and Recover section. The preview feature is a Data Recovery Pro feature.
Scan the default email client
This option is ideal if you are the primary user of the computer and the default email profile is your own. In other words, if you open the email application and the email profile is your own then it is best to use this option.
To use this option do the following:
- Click the button associated with Scan the default client option .
- Click the Start Scan button.
Email Scan will detect any email files in your profile that are available for recovery.
Scan a specific email profile
This option is what you need to use when there is more than one profile and the profile you want to scan is not the default profile. With Microsoft Outlook, emails are stored within files. If you are using Outlook you will have to select a file as displayed in the Microsoft Outlook PST Files field at the bottom of the Email page.
To use this option do the following:
- Click the button associated with the Scan a specific profile option.
- Select an item in the Microsoft Outlook PST Files field.
- Click the Start Scan button.
Email Scan will detect any email files in the selected profile that are available for recovery.
Select a specific data file to scan
You can use this option when you want to select a specific email data file such as a file or a file. This option works well for data files that are stored on backup or on an external drive.
To use this option do the following:
- Click the button associated with the Scan a specific data file to scan option.
- Click the Select PST/DBX button and locate the file that you want to scan.
- Click the Start Scan button.
Email Scan will detect any email files in the selected data file that are available for recovery.
