Microsoft Windows Notifications

With the latest Microsoft operating systems you may frequently see notifications about not having anti-virus software installed even after you are running ParetoLogic Anti-Virus PLUS. The reason is that Microsoft Windows does not detect all anti-virus programs. We at ParetoLogic are dedicated to having our software recognized by Microsoft systems. Until this time we suggest you turn off the notifications as described below.

The most recent Windows operating systems include the Security Centre. When you open the Security Center you can configure Internet Options, Firewall, Automatic Updates, and Virus Protection.

Note: If you are on a network, your security settings might be managed by a system administrator and the Virus Protection settings will not be displayed.

By default Windows Vista includes security-related notifications about virus protection software. You can turn off the notifications and specify that an anti-virus program is being used.

Note: Security Center is offered with Windows Vista and Windows XP but not with Windows 2000.

For Windows Vista

You can open the Security Center in Windows Vista and turn off the anti-virus software notifications.

To turn off Security Center monitoring, do the following:

  1. Click the Start button, select Security and then select Security Center.
  2. In the Windows Security Center dialog, select Show me my available options.
  3. Select the option I have an antivirus program that I'll monitor myself.
  4. Enter the administrator password if prompted and click OK.

The Security Center display will change to "Not monitored". You can also change the way that Security Center alerts you using notifications.

To turn off notifications, do the following:

  1. Click the Start button and select Security and then select Security Center.
  2. In the Windows Security Center dialog, select the option Change the way Security Center alerts me.
  3. Select the option Don't notify me and don't display the icon.

For Windows XP

You can open the Security Center in Windows Vista and turn off the anti-virus software notifications.

To turn off the notifications in Windows XP, do the following:

  1. Click Start and select Control Panel.
  2. Select Security Center.
  3. In the Windows Security Center dialog, select the option Change the way Security Center alerts me.
  4. Clear the Virus Protection option: Alert me if my computer might be at risk because of my virus protection software settings.
  5. Click OK.
