HTTP Filter Settings
The HTTP Filter monitor protects your system by preventing malicious or potentially harmful websites from loading.
To set a customized Protection level for the monitor, do the following:
- Click the Active Protection button in the Main window and select Internet Monitors.
- Click the drop-down arrow at the top of the page and select HTTP Filter.
- In the Options section, click the drop-down arrow and select the Protection level.
Important: For High and Medium settings, HTTP Filtering is effectively on - there is no distinction between these two settings. In other words, you will not be prompted when website blocking occurs.
For the "Log Only" and "Off" settings, HTTP Filtering does not block websites. No logging of the event occurs even with the Log Only setting. No action is taken for both of these settings.
For more information on the Protection levels you can choose from, see Protection Levels.
Block or Allow Web Pages
You can block specified web pages, or URLs, so that the site is prevented from opening in your Internet browser. You can also grant permission to have certain websites displayed.
To block web pages from appearing, do the following:
- Type the Internet address (URL) in the text box.
- Click the Block button.
Note: You will need to type in the full URL. For example, either of the following formats will work: "www.sitename.com" or "sitename.com". However, if the extension is not included the site will not be blocked. For example, "www.sitename" will not work.
To allow a web page, do the following:
- Type the Internet address in the text box.
- Click the Allow button.
Removing Allow and Block Entries
Once you have entered in a website entry to the HTTP Filter page you can select and remove it.
To remove any entry in the list, do the following:
- Select one or more entries in the list.
- Click the Remove button.
