Backup and Restore

After running a scan and removing detected items, ParetoLogic Anti-Virus PLUS automatically generates a backup file. You have the option of restoring these items. You can restore one or more backup files or all the files.

Caution: Restoring unwanted items could lead to unexpected or harmful results for your computer system.

You can restore one or more of the backup files.

To restore one or more backup files, do the following:

  1. In the Main window click Backup.
  2. Locate the backup file with the correct date and time and expand it by clicking the + sign.
  3. Select one or more backup files.
  4. Click the Restore button.

You can also choose to restore all items in a file by restoring the complete file.

To restore the entire backup file, do the following:

  1. In the Main window click Backup.
  2. Locate the backup file with the correct date and time and expand it by clicking the + sign.
  3. Select the top level check box next to the file name.
  4. With all the child entries checked on, click the Restore button.

Remove Backup Items

You can also remove items from the Backup list.

Recommendation: We recommend that you use caution when removing backup files. Use this feature only when you are certain that you do not need to restore the removed items.

To delete a backup file:

  1. In the Main window click Backup.
  2. Select one or more backup files.
  3. Click the Delete button.

Log Files

In situations where you are having issues removing malicious items, you can create a log file and submit it to our technical team. A log file is an XML file that is generated by ParetoLogic Anti-Virus PLUS when you require it. In this way, we can better support you should you run into difficulties removing malware. Should you need to create a log file, you can create and send one via email directly from Anti-Virus PLUS. You also have the option of saving the file. See Submitting a Log File for more information on how to do this.
