ParetoLogic CEO parts with hair to kick off Cops for Cancer fundraising campaign

ParetoLogic CEO Elton Pereira

Victoria, B.C. June 13, 2007 - ParetoLogic CEO Elton Pereira is getting used to his new summer-do after having his head shaved last Friday to kick off The Canadian Cancer Society's "Cops for Cancer" fundraising campaign.

The campaign features members of law enforcement agencies and emergency services who will cycle over 3000 km in four different regions of British Colombia in support of children with cancer.

Backed by $500 in pledges from his staff, Pereira lost his locks to support local rider John Paul Robinson, who will be riding in the Tour de Rock, the Vancouver Island chapter of the campaign.

Pereira has now turned the tables on his staff by offering $50 for every male and $100 for every female who are willing to shave their head for the worthy cause. With almost 90 employees, many of whom are enthusiastic about the event, ParetoLogic could be well on its way to helping Robinson achieve his goal of $25,000 in pledges.

After winning VIATeC's Innovative Excellence Award last month, ParetoLogic is issuing a challenge to all High Tech companies on Vancouver Island to apply their own innovative excellence to help fundraise for the cause.

"The Vancouver Island tech industry is a vibrant and thriving community. This is an opportunity for all of us to use our creativity and drive to make a real difference for kids who are battling cancer. I can't think of a better contribution that we could make than to support the children of our community who need us the most," said Pereira.

ParetoLogic is doing its part and hoping that other High Tech companies on the Island will follow suit in helping the Canadian Cancer Society achieve its goal. Backed by over 60 B.C. communities and thousands of volunteers, organizers of the event are hoping to raise upwards of $3 million for children with cancer.

The Tenth Anniversary Tour de Rock takes place on Vancouver Island from September 22 – October 6, 2007.
